As a general rule, try to keep the conversation on a CQ (IPZilla
record) focused on the contribution at hand. This will help the IP
team stay focused on that task (and make things progress more
smoothly). It's worth noting that only committers can access the
IPZilla system. I opened the door to a broader conversation regarding the dependencies that should probably have been initiated on this list. Sorry about that. I think that I'll open a couple of separate threads to discuss the questions/issues regarding the initial contribution, rather than trying to address them all in one place. Approval of third-party libraries is version specific. If you need a different version than is already available, we need to initiate a CQ for that version. Or you can replace your use with an approved version. When a project uses an already-approved version of a library, they need to create a "piggyback" CQ so that we can track the use of third-party libraries. Note that Log4J 1.2.13 is also approved. Not every approved library/version is included in Orbit. Libraries need to be sponsored into Orbit; a project can opt to host the library locally if they choose.
