Do we have any special code for GIMP 2.2? I don't mind supporting
older programs if it doesn't add any development burden.

CinePaint, on the other hand, is a mostly dead project that needs lots
of specific code. Yet, I think it was actually useful in giving a
guideline for the 16-bit support of GIMP 2.9.
