Hi, based on the responses for the package management, i think we will be using the pkgbuild based system in the future. Moinak, what kind of help would you need with packaging the softwares ?
the next main issue for most people is the hard disk installation of Belenix. currently, there is a perl script which asks minimal questions to the user to dump belenix to the hard disk (quite similar to installing knoppix). going forward, what kind of installer would you like ? (under ideal conditions) - GUI installer - console installer - manual installer - all of the above ? :=) GUI installer: is there any existing installing program that we can port? if not, perhaps we could start a small project to write one. console installer: do we continue to maintain the current installer ? would anyone be interested in having a complete curses based installer similar to debian/*bsd ? manual installer: provide all the tools and d/l the necessary/required packages from the net (think gentoo) any volunteers to help with the installation part of belenix ? i have a few ideas that i could mail across later. also, will we be having 2 versions of belenix - a live-cd version and an installable version or just a single live-cd with an option to install to hard disk/usb/wateva ?
