This has got to do with your keyboard layout. Try this :

Login to your system by "fishing" for the right keys. If you observe,
your layout is rotated by 1 to the right. So try typing "tppy" for root.
One suggestion to ease your trouble with the password is to disable it
by logging into the command line. (You can do that by changing the
password field (2nd field marked as 'x' in /etc/passwd for root - delete
the 'x'). Once you are into the X window system, try changing the
keyboard layout to whatever your keyboard layout is. I hope that works.

1. Was this happening earlier? I mean, before you used belenix ?

2. Can you also post your xorg.conf? It is located in /etc/X11.
If you dont find it, you can try 'xorgconfig' command, but you might
need to be aware of a couple of configuration details before launcing on
to it. I just hope you already have a xorg.conf.
