that was my first surprise when i used linux... there was simply no
good ide's ( ok vim/emacs fanboys calm down)  ... and afaik there
*still* isnt a conditional compiler for linux... perhaps its available
with the solaris version.

kdevelop and few other projects are trying to bridge this gap but imo,
they still have a long way to go...

ps. vim/emacs are worth learning inspite of the steep learning curve.
