SPLA boycotts Kampala seminar

SPLA leader John Garang

The Sudans Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) led by John Garang has boycotted a 3-day NUBA and South Blue Nile Civil Society seminar currently taking place at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala.

The SPLA rebel faction fighting in Southern Sudan had been invited to attend the conference at which the civil society is discussing avenues of bringing an end to the marginalization of people from the Southern Sudan.

However SPLAs stay away has been seen as a setback to the struggle for peace and an end to the marginalization of the Southern Sudan people.

Radio Simba talked to the General Secretary of the Pan African Movement Tajjudin Abraham who is one of the organizers of the seminar says that SPLA will be furnished with the outcome of the seminar.

Some of the delegates at the seminar express discontent after they were told to act as mere observers rather than active participants.

One of the disgruntled people is the Chief of all tribes of the Blue Nile State in Sudan Yusuf Al-ma-Hassan.

However some delegates expressed optimism in the seminar saying it would help strongly in liberating Africans who are marginalised by their Arabic Sudanese counterparts.

One such participant is Archbishop Abbassi Ghabonsh of the Free Sudan National Party.
