Obote minister detained
By John Thawite
Former minister in the President Milton Obotes first regime, Ezironi Mbete Bwambale, is languishing in Kasese Police cells for failure to pay sh700,000 eviction costs.
The frail Bwambale, 70, the first Mukonzo MP and former culture minister in the 1960s, was put behind bars in the late hours of Monday on the orders of the High Court.
Bwambales woes started when he failed to pay eviction costs demanded by the High Court in Fort Portal which in October evicted him from a house claimed by an Asian businessman Sarojbhai Patel.
Stephen Ndolirire Court Brokers and Bailiffs, escorted by armed Police, executed the court order.
