Museveni's NRM disarmed the Karamojongs. ..and therefore the Karamojong are
pretty much incapable of defending themselves against the Cattle raiders
from Kenya.

One would think that since the UPDF disarmed the Karamojongs, the UPDF would
be at hand ready to defend the Karamojongs....and yet the fact of the matter
is that the Karamojongs are left at the mercy of mauruding invaders from
Kenya. Karamojong cattle are stole at will!!

and since the UPDF cannot defend the Karamojongs, why not re-arm the
Karamojongs so that they are capable of defending themselves?

SUSPECTED Kenyan Pokot warriors on Saturday attacked several villages
surrounding Namalu trading centre in Nakapiripirit district, killing 10
people.

The Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs and Pian County MP, Peter Lokeris,
said the warriors had attacked the villages in the night and drove away 800
head of cattle towards the Kenyan border.

Lokeris said those killed in the dawn surprise attack included women,
children and the elderly, who were found sleeping in their manyattas.

He said the Pokot also killed a number of frail animals that could not be
driven along with the rest.

"I had just come home for a short break when these people (Pokot) attacked my
area. When I heard of the attack, we rushed to the scene with some UPDF
commanders. The situation was bad and people were sad," Lokeris said.

He said the UPDF troops deployed to pursue the warriors had not made any
recovery.

Lokeris said the Pokot were taking advantage of the few guns still possessed
by Karimojong herdsmen and this had been the second attack in a period of two
months.
