A group of Congolese yesterday announced in Kampala that they had overthrown
Mbusa Nyamwisi.
Kahasa S told a press conference the Mbusa Nyamwisi's forces had killed over
100 civilians.
"We have a political declaration for peace in RCD-ML but because of the in
which Mbusa has killed hundreds of men, women and children we have to oust
him from RCD-Kisangani ML administration," said Kahasa.
"Our forces are now only 8km form Benni and in two days we will take that
town," said Kahasa.
Flanked by prospective president of RCD- Kisangani Faustian Ndekesire, Kahasa
said: "Mbusa has supported and harboured (Rogers) Kabanda, the leader of
Ugandan rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces in Butembo. We know it and if
we capture that place we will capture him and bring him to Uganda."
Congolese sources said Mbusa was in Kampala yesterday but efforts to contact
him were futile.
Forces believed to be Jean Pierre Bemba's MLC have battled Mbusa's group
reportedly known as APC and are on the verge of flashing them out of the town.
But Kahasa denied the Bemba connection saying: "We are APC, we have no Bemba
forces in our army."
Beni has been under the administration of Mbusa's RCD-Kisangani for over a
year after he overthrew Prof. Wamba Dia Wamba early 2001.
