Federo May Fail�Ssempijja
THE Masaka LC5 chairman, Vincent Ssempijja, has said the bid to return a federo system in Buganda is likely to fail, reports Eddie Ssejjoba.
Ssempijja was on Sunday addressing residents of Nyendo at the opening of the Makerere College of Business Maryland Campus, Masaka branch.
He said the problem with the federo bid is that people do not understand its definition and advantages.
He said the number of MPs who are pro-federo is very small and Buganda has about 70 MPs out of 282 in Parliament
�The biggest task is to convince at least 150 Members of Parliament to support the return of federo.
He said the campaign should be effective in all parts of the nation for its success.
�Those spearheading the federo bid are only confined in Buganda and a few surrounding parts,� Ssempijja said.
He said those in need of federo should form a federo task force which must be friendly and handled properly for efficiency or else end up losing.
The Buddu chief, Pokino Mulindwa Walukejje, said the return of federo is the key solution to the declining graduated tax collection and other social services. Ends
