It is very hurting to see that the opposition party in
Zimbabwe has decided to waste the votes Zimbabweans gave it. We must all
remember that the Zimbabweans who voted for this party had a trust in it, they
knew that MDC will do something different from Mugaaabe and to me that is a sign
of political growth. As a Ugandan who does not have a right to vote for a leader
I want, and who has no right to belong to a political party of my choice, I find
the choices of MDC very offensive. They run out of parliament, now we have an MP
requesting for asylum and our people in Zimbabwe are truly with out an
opposition. But like I said before these elections, I find it hard to find a
union leading an opposition. Those very words have come true as the days go by.
So I say, may be as MDC looks at Britain to be put in
power, may be Zimbabweans should look very seriously into recreating a real
opposition in their country? Just thinking out loud.

In this article, Temba Mliswa responds to reports on
Tafadzwa Musekiwas seeking of asylum in the UK.
REPORTS on Mr Tafadzwa Musekiwa seeking asylum in the UK only confirms what we have been saying in the past that the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is no longer a political force in Zimbabwe. The MDC is dead and that is why some of its leaders and Members of Parliament are now seeking asylum abroad. A good example is that of Musekiwa who skipped the country recently and sought asylum in the UK. All he is interested in is money. Having realised that the MDC no longer has a future in the country, Mr Musekiwa is now using asylum status for financial security. In fact, when Mr Musekiwa and his friend Mr Job Sikhala joined the MDC, they saw it as a way of making a quick buck. The MDC has, however, apparently failed to satisfy their hunger for money. This is also the major reason why the two young men tried to form a new political party in London some time last year. The new party they wanted to form would have had the youth as their backbone. They believed that they controlled all the youth in the MDC. When they were in the UK, the only person who knew about their trip to that country was the late Mr Learnmore Jongwe. Unfortunately, funds for launching the new party failed to materialise. In Parliament, the two young men tried to have the constitution amended so that MPs who defected to other parties would retain their seats. Their plan was to defect to Zanu-PF and at the same time retain their seats. Mr Musekiwa, Mr Sikhala and their colleagues in the MDC should be grateful to Zanu-PF and the Government for the support they have been getting. While they have been at the forefront of violence, they have continued to move around the country like any other Zimbabwean. Considering the amount of damage they have caused in this country, the Government has been very lenient with them. The two were my friends. I know them and it is their strong belief that they were used by the MDC. Some of their colleagues, especially those in top positions of the party, have made lots of money. They are therefore bitter. This was worsened by the death of Mr Jongwe who used to defend and work with them. Now they have no direction. I remember them telling me that when Mr Tendai Biti returned from one of his many overseas trips, he boasted of having made lots of money and showed them over 80 000. I am the one who arranged their air tickets to London and they have not yet paid back the money. Now that Mr Musekiwa has sought asylum in the UK, I do not know how I am going to get the money refunded. The travel agency they used for the trip is now on my back. How sad it is that instead of coming back to attend his fathers funeral, Mr Musekiwa opted for financial security and sought asylum in the UK! If the truth be known, what he is seeking is not political but financial asylum. The Mulindwas
