Fellow Citizens:

Kategaya however, said the Movement wants to “kill” the Uganda Peoples Congress and the Democratic Party because the two are formed on sectarian grounds."

This is a very serious intention on the part of NRM military dictatorship. Katageya must realize that parties like Uganda Peoples Congress cannot simply be "killed."

The founding fathers of Uganda Peoples Congress formed the party based on certain ideals which they hold very dear to the advancement of our nation, our people and our country.

There are people, and they are very many all through out our country, who believe in such ideals as enshrined in the UPC Constitution.

The question then to our friend Mr. Katageya is: how is it possible for the NRM to KILL an idea whose time as come?

The Nazis tried it. And guess what .. it never worked.  Batista(sp) in Cuba tried it, that did not work. Samoza in Nicaragua tried it: that did not work.  Samuel Doo of Liberia tried it  .. that did not work.  Emperor Bukasa of the Central Africa Republic tried it, that did not work. Mubutu SSese Seko tried it and that too did not work

The grave yard of history is full of organizations calling themselves movements and have tried to oppress a people and ideas.!!! ..I guess our friend Katageya, as the so called political GURU of the Movement system in Uganda, as apparently failed to learn from history.

"Speaking about recent arrests of opposition politicians, Kategaya said some people have been detained without trial because police is thin on the ground and cannot do thorough investigations."

2) As for the arrest of political opponents: Such is to be expected especially as the NRM Movement system grows desperate by the hour and the people, restless as they are, begin to demand for freedom from a terrorist NRM military dictatorship.

I do not believe the notion that people are being detained in Uganda without any trial what so ever because as Katageya says "POLICE is THIN ON THE GROUND."

What do you mean the police is thin on the ground?  Why did you or your Movement dictatorship saw it fit to lay off members of the Uganda Police force, if the NRM knew that it would be needing the police force to conduct a thorough investigation to establish guilty of those Ugandans the government as wrongly arrested and is now detaining?

Kategaya again calls for political review

By Alex B. Atuhaire:

The first Deputy Prime Minister, Eriya Kategaya has for a second time in two years said there is a need to review the political situation in the country.

Kategaya also Minister of Internal Affairs said Saturday while speaking on Capital FM talk show, The Capital Gang that there was a need to accommodate people who have opposed the Movement system of government since 1986.

“We need to review because the situation in 1986 is not the same as now. The question now should be how do you handle those who say they don’t belong to the Movement right from the beginning,” he said.

Kategaya however, said the Movement wants to “kill” the Uganda People’s Congress and the Democratic Party because the two are formed on sectarian grounds.

Speaking about recent arrests of opposition politicians, Kategaya said some people have been detained without trial because police is thin on the ground and cannot do thorough investigations.

“In our struggle, we were trying to bring sanity and legality in running government affairs. If somebody is arrested let the family and close relatives know where he is being held. Some of these incidents that happened last week were unfortunate,” Kategaya said.
He said security personnel have been asked to be more civil in their dealings with members of the public.
Lt. Dan Mugarura, Eng. Pascal Gakyaro, Charles Willy Ekemu and Francis Ogwang Olebe, are some of the victims of government’s on-going crack-down on alleged rebel collaborators. They are being held on remand at Kigo prison.
They are accused of collaborating with People’s Redemption Army (PRA) rebels, a group allegedly led by renegade UPDF dissidents, Col. Samson Mande and Lt. Col. Anthony Kyakabale.
Mande who fled to Rwanda in 2001 has denied that PRA exist, saying that the said rebel group is an imaginary creation of Col. Noble Mayombo, the chief of Military Intelligence.
