Personally
I think that the entire Buganda structure must be
changed. The fact that our kingdom is that old, it makes some of those buildings
very important in our history, and since we refused to have a population say in
the running of business in Mengo, we should have an elected body with the
responsponsbility of running these historical buildings and other such related
materials. That would save the entire Buganda history to be decided by a
Movementist like the present Katikiro. It becomes hard to run such an old
culture on "I think" "We think" Surely we do not know what is going on in Mengo,
whether Uganda government is paying or what even that money is used for (If
it is there) But it becomes hard when we state (Those who know might tell
us whether Uganda Government is paying rent) where are the ones who know? Have
you ever elected any body to run that public enterprise? No. So how can we do
better?
Buganda Kingdom was a very power full Kingdom
during the pre-Colonial days, and being pre-Colonial, so were the structures
that were running it. Buganda as a Kingdom must understand that we are now in an
independent state, and very many years have gone by. So we must start to run the
kingdom as people who are in 2003. The danger most of the Kingdom supporters
have, is that they still worship its pre-Colonial system and they see no reason
to change them. Ad I have no problem with that, but when one dictator from
Masaka comes in and sells the masiro to Shell and BP for he is a Movementist in
the name of Katikiro, then shut up do not complain.
