Chief Ssemakula:

I guess we most certainly defer in our intellectual analysis.

Whereas,  for me ( and  I believe many netters) I would most definitely read Ibingira's book (Written in simple and plain English as you so eloquently pointed out) and draw one set of conclusion.

I would most definitely read Obotes  writings ( and believe me they are  many if you cared to check them out)   just to check on Ibingira's facts (which apparently was presented in simply plain English) .

That done, I would then draw my own conclusion. This to me is what CONCRETE ANALYSIS is about!

Now for you, you ONLY want to read Ibingira's BOOK ..and what ever you read in  Ibingira's book you consider it as Gospel Truth!

You also write "The real mystery is that Obote, in spites of having boat-loads of time on his hands, has not written anything sufficiently detailed to be worth the time to read."

Obote has most definately written.   The fact is that you probably did not care to read him.... after all his writings are not worth your time!!!  Aahe

I guess this is according to  Ssemakula's Interlectual Capability!!

Mr. Matekopoko:

I have answered that question in the affirmative, But let me state it again: Yes, for the purposes of knowing the internal workings of UPC, Mr. Ibingira as the Secretary-General of UPC and its legal adviser since inception, as well as a cabinet minister, was well placed to observe, first-hand, what he writes about; and is therefore certainly a credible witness, if a hostile one to dictator Obote.

Further, having been detained and imprisoned without trial for some five years, he was obviously highly motivated to write a "kiss-and-tell" book, and he does not disappoint. The book is very well researched ,and written in very simple English, accessible to anyone with even an O-Level education, which I am fortunate to possess. It is also has many references for each chapter.

The real mystery is that Obote, in spites of having boat-loads of time on his hands, has not written anything sufficiently detailed to be worththe time to read. Perhaps, it is the lack of ghost-writers that impedes him. However, if you know of any book length works of his please educate us.

Now, who or what is PP?

More of Ibingira's stuff in the near future.

Ssemakula

ps: Mr. Dambisya, you can now come out from under the bed ...

Mr Ssemakula:

A question has been asked of you: Do you consider Mr. Grace Ibingira's
Writings authoritative?
Could it be that Grace was and did simply express his own independent Opinion
in his so called book.

In a court of law Obote has the right to be listen to as well.

Indeed for an intellectual to come to an independent sound judgment about
historical events which occur in our country, the intellectual is required (by
the mere fact that one considers him/her self an intellect) to listen from m
opposing view points. I guess our learnt friend cares NOT to read Obote's
numerous remarks (opposing view points form the PP) regarding the likes of Grace
Ibingira.

Netters here is a fellow who fall out with the PP, naturally he is going to
write .or rather make an Anti-Obote remarks in his so called Book. It is
incumbent upon our learnt friend NOT to take Ibingira's remarks as GOSPEL TRUTH!

but once, he must so live as not to be seared by the shame of a cowardly
and trivial past; so live as to have no torturing regrets for years without
purpose; so live that dying he can say — all my life and all my strength
were given to the finest cause in the world — the liberation of mankind."
