"Amin died at a tender age. He should have lived longer because the country still needed him," said Lt. Col. Abdul Nassur Abudallah, the former governor of central province.
He said yesterday after receiving news of the death of former president Idi Amin Dada.
Nassur said Amin, 78 should be buried in Saudi Arabia as the Islamic culture dictates.
"I have lost a great friend and the country has lost a statesman. Amin is a man who stabilised the economy of this country," he said.
Nassur said he would be glad to go to Saudi Arabia if government facilitated him.
He said they (Nubian community) would organise local funeral rites. "I feel very bad because I have lost my former boss and personal friend," he said. Jami Amin, a son to Nassur said Amin was like his father.
"He allowed my dad to work for him. So I have lost a man who is like a father to me," he said.
Ali Juma a businessman in Bombo said government should organise a state funeral for Amin, whether in Saudi Arabia or Uganda.
Work came to a standstill in Bombo town when news of Amin's death filtered through.
People clustered in-groups as they discussed the development.
