But Mulindwa, Federalism was enshrined in Uganda's constitution at Independence (remember). Guess who wrecked it? yes you guessed it "Obote", and he further went on to replace a federal multiparty system with a SINGLE PARTY SYSTEM. Mulindwa man, i can't believe you have already forgotten our country's recent history so fast or is it a case of "convenient forgeting". We are going full circle here, folks, the man who destroyed democracy "Obote" is now seeking to restore democracy and is now parading himself as polster boy for democracy, now you don't need a fortune teller to tell you the future results.

What always surprises me in Ugandan (and African politics) is our virtual servitude to our leaders. For example why can't Obote be replaced in the UPC, Mulindwa why don't you vie for the UPC leadership or Rwanyarare, is there something in the UPC constitution that says that Obote is leader for life or is UPC Obote's personal property. Cecila Ogwal once made that now tragic move to challenge Obote and was immediately made redundant by Obote and his hench men, she is now virtually a political has been. Obote is an octogenerian, his mates like Nelson Mendela, Kenneth Kaunda, the late Julius Nyere, late Kamuzu Banda and others are long since off the political scene, those that are alive are now elder statesmen of the continent. But Obote is still power hungry. This situation in the UPC begs a few questions;
1. HOW CAN A NON DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTION CLAIM TO BE DEMOCRACTIC.
2. What moral authority does Obote have to preach democracy and democratic ideals to President Museveni

Can some of you UPC guys help me out with some answers please?.

It's one thing to talk the talk, but to walk the walk is another thing all together.

If what you are doing is wrong you can not make it public. You must protect it and that is the only way it can survive. A good example is Federalism our fellas are trying to sell. Although federalism will and must affect all of us, Federalist failed to make it a public issue. They knew that it was full of loop holes and it would not stand public scrutiny and the only way it could survive is by being under the umbrella. They went into their forum and censored it, they made sure that any body who they feel will put it at a fore front for a challenge, and threw him out. Lisa Toro and my self were part of the victims. Federalism in Uganda has back fired in the faces of federalists, thanks to Museveni's cunningness, not for Mulindwa or Lisa Toro. It was a bad concoction of Uganda affairs from day one and many of us saw right through it. If federalism was right, if it was done for the goodness of Uganda, it should have stood out right and centre and it should have stood the trials and tribulations of every single Ugandan. But the owners would not take that chance and in the end they have hit a wall, Museveni today is in a position where he is going to throw his own Federalism to Uganda for they, and I must insist on this, THEY the Federalists and Mengo opened this back door for him.
In the same manner NRM can not open up its self to public scrutiny, that is why you see that originally they wanted elections done in public, you stand in line behind your candidate. in a way it was to threaten you if you stand behind any body with out the blessing of NRM. Ugandans called that democracy. What is very strange indeed, is that NRM is telling us that UPC is a terrible party, but UPC has called day and night for a resumption of political partys. And when you talk to its stall warts they tell you that they want to put their party to a test by putting it through a democratic election any time. What they know that we do not know one must wonder.

  If NRM come to bring clean leadership - why fear competative politics
  where reform agenda , dp and the catholics plus baganda become the
  central issue in national politics?

So cabinate changes the constitution in favour of Buganda and NRM - and this is the reason why people are dying?!

  Why not say we have ruled 17 solid years , we have the army and we
  have the ability to develop, go out their and compete for politics since
  now you are civilised enough to do so?!

If you can answer that question and have adequate answers or not- human stupidity, greed, shallowness then knows no bounds.

Fighting UPC is a dead end as promoting political buganda, monolithic NRM as well covert reform agenda politics - that is the simple fact take it or live it and funny enough the constitution is dead, only can be supported by arms instead of civility.

flourish democracy.
