The Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom, Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru says that he is being investigated over alleged anti-government statements.

Iguru was speaking at St. Mathew's church in Masindi town, shortly after Christmas prayers. He however vowed that he would not stop speaking against the government's neglect of Bunyoro. His wife, Omugo Margaret Karunga Adyeeri Iguru, flanked him.

"When I spoke about some of these evils recently, now the DISO and RDC have written to government that I should be investigated. I am aware intelligence people have been deployed against me, but whatever they do, I will never stop talking. We are sidelined. We need a special programme for Bunyoro's development," he told a congregation of over 100 people.

The king blasted the government and colonialists for being responsible for Bunyoro's problems and urged his subjects to fend for themselves because there was no hope in government doing so.

"Government is fearing our suit against the British because it's surviving on their aid. But we shall cause dust and hurricanes to get what we want. But I am not calling for violence".

The Omukama also blamed his Buganda counterpart Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi for 'mistreating' the Baruuli (of Nakasongola district).

He said that the Baruuli are being forced to abandon their language (Ruruuli) in favour of Luganda. He also called for the scrapping of mailo land system saying it is a fraud.

Rev David Kaahwa, the archdeacon led the service which was also attended by Minister of State for Local Government, Dr Philip Byaruhanga, district chairman John Majara, Kingdom speaker Earnest Kiiza, and Masindi town mayor Capt. Sam Kiiza among others.
