Passage of
the joint resolution that would authorize the use of force against Iraq
and require the administration to report to Congress that diplomatic options
have been exhausted no later than 48 hours after military action has begun. The
president also would be required to submit a progress report to Congress at
least every 60 days.
Passed 296-133: Republicans 215-6;
Democrats 81-126 (ND 49-105, SD 32-21); I 0-1. A
"yea" was a vote in support of the president's position.
