Stop âmaking funâ of Teso
Why on earth would President Yoweri Museveni want to create the impression that Kony rebels have been completely wiped out of Teso? The statement that the war is over is a mockery of the Iteso.
Whereas a commendable job has been done by the army and most, especially the Arrow Boys and local leaders, it is too early to say Kony has given up or been beaten out of Teso.
Rebels continue to roam the villages of Orungo in Soroti and Morungatuny and the people are still unable to go to their homes. It is typical of the rebels to change strategy from time to time, and who knows sooner than later, they will be spreading mayhem in the area.
Even in northern Uganda where it had at one time been assumed that the rebellion had stopped, the rebels still make the villages uninhabitable.
So instead of issuing statements which might only be swallowed tomorrow, let the army concentrate in cleaning up the villages and pursuing the rebels up to their hideouts.
