I know Joy Mayanja personally, but never knew the late cousin.  May the loving God rest his soul in eternal peace. Many Ugandans coming to the USA started their lives in New Jersey with Joy extending a helping hand to them.  Some known figures in Uganda stay with Joy when they visit New Jersey.

It is part of our culture to come to the needs of the bereaved family when called upon; or offer whatever services we can at times like these.  Rehema, you can have all the insurance in the world, but will never take away the grief from your loved ones. Your life insurance might cover transportation of the coffin to a foreign land; and most probably, our departed Jackson Mayanja’s coverage might have been different from yours, hence the call for help.

Such calls are purely voluntary.

Do our fellow Ugandans in the USA ever have "LIFE INSURANCE" ?!  Whenever a Ugandan dies, I always hear cries of financial support on funeral arrangements and transportation of the body.  This is not making any more sense!  I'm sorry!

However as it is, Death will visit each and everyone of us in the same way as Life visited and is still our guest.  May his soul rest in eternal peace!

Dear Ugandans and friends:

Miss. Joy Mayanja of Hillside, NJ announces with great sorrow the death of her cousin, Jackson Mayanja, who resided at Hackensack, New Jersey.  Jackson Mayanja died in hit and run car accident last night in Newark, New Jersey.

The body is in funeral home while arrangements to take the body back to Uganda are underway.  We need $7,800.00 for all the arrangements and transportation to take the body back home.  We have been able to raise $5,100 so far.  We need financial assistance to raise the balance - $2,700.

We shall gather tomorrow from 4:00 PM onwards at Joy Mayanja’s home - Hillside to mourn the death.  Please pass the message around.
