Who said that Life Insurance takes away people's grief??  Are you now trying to say that mabugo takes away people's grief?? --- I trust you don't believe that.

I've lost loved ones before and mabugo did not help me heal at all, the same way life insurance can not help.  Mabugo can pay for all costs of transportation and burial costs.  I know that mabugo is voluntary and part of our culture.  A culture where "life insurance" is almost non-existing, and if it exists it can not pay for all costs or it usually comes in too late.  That is perfectly understandable, and I support mabugo for that matter.

I know Joy Mayanja personally, but never knew the late cousin.  May the loving God rest his soul in eternal peace. Many Ugandans coming to the USA started their lives in New Jersey with Joy extending a helping hand to them.  Some known figures in Uganda stay with Joy when they visit New Jersey.

It is part of our culture to come to the needs of the bereaved family when called upon; or offer whatever services we can at times like these.  Rehema, you can have all the insurance in the world, but will never take away the grief from your loved ones. Your life insurance might cover transportation of the coffin to a foreign land; and most probably, our departed Jackson Mayanjas coverage might have been different from yours, hence the call for help.

Such calls are purely voluntary.

Do our fellow Ugandans in the USA ever have "LIFE INSURANCE" ?!  Whenever a Ugandan dies, I always hear cries of financial support on funeral arrangements and transportation of the body.  This is not making any more sense!  I'm sorry!

However as it is, Death will visit each and everyone of us in the same way as Life visited and is still our guest.  May his soul rest in eternal peace!

We shall gather tomorrow from 4:00 PM onwards at Joy Mayanjas home - Hillside to mourn the death.  Please pass the message around.
