THE Straight Talk Foundation has launched its second edition of the Luganda publication called Twogere Kaati, in Rakai district.
Susan Ajok, who represented the Straight Talk manager, said the Luganda publication, was intended to answer the Presidents call of being open to children about sex and reproductive health.
Local language publications are aimed at reaching out to persons at village level, who cannot understand English, she said.
Ajok said Straight Talk had issued many publications in various local languages including Ateso, Luo and, Luganda among others.
The Rakai district vice chairperson Florence Naamara, who was the chief guest, expressed concern over women in Lyantonde sub-district, whom she said sold their bodies without protective measures.
Such behaviour is dangerous to our society because it increases the spread of Aids, she said.
Lillian Mutengu, an official from Straight Talk, advised the youth to us
e condoms whenever they opted for sex.
Although abstinence from sex is possible, it is not practical to many youth. So I advise you to make use of condoms, she said.
Mutengu said Straight Talk was not focusing on sex alone but also dealt with fields like work, education, child abuse, fashion and life style. She requested youth leaders to discuss sex matters with the youth.
Rakai Deputy Resident District Commissioner George William Kagulire urged parents to begin talking to their children about sex at the age of 12, when they become sexually active.
Stop being shy with your children in matters concerning life and death, like the AIDS case, if you want to see them grow up, he said.
