Camps for displaced should be dismantled

Mr James Tumusiime could not have put it any better to the President than in his Displaced People Better Off At Home Than In Camp (The Monitor, February, 28).

The government has simply failed to meet its part of the bargain to protect the people living in the internally displaced peopleâs camps. It is time they
dismantled the prison-like camps (some people have called them concentration camps).

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
