KATAKWI - The overall co-ordinator of the Teso militia Musa Ecweru has ordered a headcount of all the Langi in the sub-region. He said the move is meant to help him weed out rebel infiltrators in Teso. Mr Ecweru issued the order on March 16 at Orungo camp for internally displaced persons.
Ecweru ordered the head count shortly before visiting Odelel camp - where the Joseph Kony-led "rebels" killed nine people on Monday and burnt both Odelel trading centre and the headquarters of the UPDF's 19th battalion.�
He said the head count is not meant to incite the Iteso against Luo speaking communities including Acholi and Langi.He said there is a limit to patience and expected the Langi to cooperate maximally
if they are to stay in Teso.
"For that matter I now ask the Langi who are in Teso to identify themselves properly lest they be molested on defiance," Ecweru said. He ordered the local councils and IDP camp leaders to list the Langi under their protection.
He said he would compare the list with the one he has of "LRA rebel collaborators".� Meanwhile Katakwi district councillors have condemned the Odelel "LRA attack". They say the attack shows government has failed to protect civilians in Teso.

Ecwero's move is pretty my retrogressive. Why is he ordering the Headcount of Lango citizens? I do not buy the notion that Ewero's move is intended to protect lango Citizens.
Rather, the move is diabolic in nature. It can be compared to that of Germany's Adolph Hitler. Hiller, it will be recalled, called upon the Jews to register with the then German Government agencies. This was intended to make in easy for the Germans to easily identify Jews and send them to concentration camps to be slaughtered. I need not emphasis that Yoweri Museveni's henchmen like Ecwero are becoming very dangerous men.
