Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala has warned of a genocide in the north if the international
community does not intervene to end the war.
Delivering his Easter message on Wednesday, Wamala called upon the UN to help Uganda
end the 17-year-old rebellion by the Lord's Resistance Army rebels.
Speaking on the day that Rwanda commemorated the 10th anniversary of the 1994
genocide, the cardinal warned of similar massacres in the north if the world continues
to look on.

"In Rwanda now they are commemorating the genocide and [UN Secretary General] Kofi
Annan was apologising," Wamala said.
"He made a mistake of not intervening in time; are we to wait for such things to
happen in Uganda so that they may apologise? They had better intervene now," he added.
