KAMPALA DEPLOYS TROOPS ALONG CONGOLESE BORDER
 General, Brief

The Ugandan armed forces deployed ulterior troops in the western district of Kasese,
along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The news was referred by Radio
Uganda, citing the Ugandan âAllutaâ military magazine, which specifies that two
small Ugandan rebel groups with their training camps over the border with
north-eastern Congo â ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) and PRA (Peopleâs Resistance
Army) â in the past weeks intensified operations along the border zone. âThe armed
forces intend to prevent any possible threat to Ugandan securityâ, stated to
'Alluta' Lieutenant Colonel Kabalangira, commander of the 509 brigade. Confirmation
arrived also from the spokesman of the second division of the Ugandan army, Lieutenant
Mabath Mugisha, reassuring the population of the border zone that the situation is
under the control of the military.
