KAMPALA - Lt. Col. Proscovia Nalweyiso has said the growing agitation for federo in Buganda could breed violence. Nalweyiso, head of the UPDF women wing, was speaking on State-run Radio Ugandas Star FM on Tuesday. She said she had been shocked by federo agitators threats to harm members those who hold contrary views on the matter.

She cited Mr Ssalongo Ssekidde, a multi-partyist and federo supporter in Ndeeba, who Nalweyiso said was threatening people opposed to federo. I heard Ssekidde on one radio station insinuating that Wakiso LC5 Chairman, Eng. Ian Kyeyune, was armed with a pistol when he was pelted with stones at the Buganda federo workshop recently. Ssekidde claims that Kyeyune could have been armed to kill the Kabaka. How can he make such an allegation without evidence? Nalweyiso asked.

Kyeyune and former Katikkiro of Buganda, Mr Mayanja Nkangi, were chased from a federo workshop in Lubiri on July 30 after sections of the audience accused them of opposing federo.
