Ugandan leader warns U.S

You know that a General talks less but does more action

FROM: PRESIDENT AMIN
TO: PRESIDENT GERALD FORD (advising him not to discriminate against black people in America).

August 13, 1974.

YOUR EXCELLENCY AND DEAR BROTHER,

This is my second telegram to you since you assumed the high office of President of the United States of America. I wish to address you on a burning issue of our time and alert you to a situation fraught with dangers namely, the position of black people in your country.

You are aware Africans were kidnapped from Africa by whites and forced against their will, to leave their motherland and go in chains to the United States of America. The black people are hardworking, sincere and indeed have many other talents. They have contributed a lot to the development of America. Their important role in society must be recognised.

As a fellow president and fellow Commander-in-Chief, I wish to advise you that, for the smooth running of the administration of your country, you must not discriminate against the black people. Not only should you appoint them in high offices in your White House staff, but you should also appoint them as Secretaries of State. Your Vice President should be a black man. They are entitled to their rightful share in the running of the country.

You know that a General talks less but does more action, and I trust you will take my advice seriously.

I wish you, Mr President, a happy time in office of the President of the United States of America.

AL-HAJJI GENERAL IDI AMIN DADA,
V.C, D.S.O, M.C,
President of the Republic of Uganda
