2,000 Huts Burnt in IDP Camp

Preliminary reports indicate that an inferno on Friday evening left six people dead and over 2,000 huts destroyed at Agweng Internally Displaced People's camp in Erute North. Over 10,000 people were left homeless.
Officials of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Holland who have been running a clinic in the camp since November last year said by 6pm, six people were confirmed dead and over 2,000 huts burnt.

The fire started around 3pm and lasted about three hours.
A wife to a UPDF soldier in the camp reportedly poured ash containing live coal in a rubbish pit which later caught fire and spread to the whole camp.
