Other than his own and that of his corrupt cronies, what
anti-poverty programs has Museveni implemented?
Don't know about you, but there is a larger proportion of poor
people today than when Museveni came to power.
What Museveni has done for the last 20 years has been to engage in all
sorts of ill-advised military adventurism: invading and looting the
DRC -- losing three battles to tiny Rwanda in the process, losing 2
decades worth of fighting against Kony's poorly armed & poorly trained
rag-tag band of fighters -- notwithstanding even a single deadline to defeat
his nemesis, etc, etc. The result has been a 2 lost generation wallowing in
abject misery and horrible suffering in inhuman concentration camps in
Northern Uganda.
Museveni has also single-handedly run the economy into the
ground and has transformed Uganda into a beggar nation, perennially
dependent on the charity and handouts of Western donors.
Just look at the state of our roads, our schools, or any other component
of infrastructure! Uganda cannot afford Museveni and his robber barons for
another 5 years.
What was the frequency of the word "mivumba" in
Uganda's lexicon before Museveni and his bandits grabbed power? Or did
you just miss a big article on the subject in the New York Times in which
Uganda -- a cotton producing country, for crying out loud! -- was used
as the prime example of this phenomenon in whole of Africa?
As for anti-AIDS campaigns, there are very many people who are
vastly superior to Museveni.
Museveni's time to go was 10 years ago. Museveni, who has long
overstayed his welcome, is the problem in Uganda, and he
should leave power, now.

analyses should take into consideration the local situation and past
history.
I would agree with the opinion of the honourables; Bidandi,
Sabiiti, Butuuro, Prof. Bukenya and others but would definitely disagree
with the opinion of Geldof on third term because it is full of gross
assumptions and pre-conceived conclusions. Ugandans are mature enough and
should therefore be left to sort out the issue of third term without
external influence.
