More Troops Go North

MORE UPDF troops have been deployed in northern Uganda following recent attacks on civilians by Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels.
"We have deployed intensively against the LRA rebels because they are desperately trying to show us that they can still commit atrocities," northern army spokesman Lt. Tabaro Kiconco said.

Suspected LRA rebels reportedly attacked Namkora IDP Camp in Chua county, Kitgum district and killed one person on Sunday.
Kiconco, however, said the attack was carried out by Karimojong warriors roaming the northern and eastern parts of Uganda for cattle, pasture and water.

"Our operational forces on the ground will either kill the LRA remnants or capture them if they cannot surrender," Kiconco said.
He said the UPDF 503 Brigade commander visited Namkora camp on Monday morning to asses the atrocities committed.
