Rebels kill Kitgum guards

A group of LRA rebels which crossed from southern Sudan on Monday attacked and overrun a Frontier Guards detachment at Oboko in Kitgum district, killing a number of the guards.
Security sources said the rebels attacked the unit at Agoro sub-county, Lamwo county in Kitgum along the border of Uganda and Sudan. The rebels were estimated to be about 100.
The northern army spokesman, Lt. Tabaro Kiconco, said yesterday, �There was an attack on our detachment by the LRA, with deaths and injuries recorded. I don�t have the figures of the deaths and injuries. Our troops repulsed the attackers.�
