Kisanja agitators self-seekers bishop

CHRIST FIRST: Niringiye (centre) talks to Paul Etiang and Tereza Jamwa before the prayers

By Fred Ouma
THE assistant bishop of Kampala Diocese, the Rev. Dr. Zac Niringiye, has lashed out at pro-third term agitators as people seeking personal interests rather than hope for Uganda.
Niringiye said with kisanja (third term for President Museveni) or not, the countrys hope was not dependent on an individual but Jesus Christ.
Politicians, dont suggest that Uganda depends on you. Kisanja or no kisanja, we have hope in the one who rose, he said.
Niringiye said this during the Easter sermon at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero yesterday.
The Minister of Health, Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, and Beti Kamya of the Forum for Democratic Change attended.
The sermon followed the controversy about a vision for Uganda where reference has been made to Jesus Christ, among others, as one who had a vision.
Niringiye likened those proclaiming kisanja as panacea for Ugandas hope to the Biblical story where the disciples could not recognise that Jesus had risen and was with them.
Niringiye encouraged Christians to always live as people of hope.
We must be people of hope to help bring it to those in despair and gloom. Weve a responsibility of bringing hope to people in camps in the north and those in Kampala slums.
He urged internally displaced people not to lose hope but continue to believe in Christ, as their despair would give way to total hope.
