Of course he has!
Having brought the World's attention to Africa in the most viewed media event in history which raised millions of pounds (most of which corrupted by African leaders) some of you obviously do not realise that us Bazungu actually really, really care about Africa. We hate, as you do, much of the past colonialism. We want to help now in 2005.
Britiain, where I live (although I was born in Kampala) gives many millions to Uganda each year. Parliament here continually debates Ugandan issues.
I personally think it is totally unfair to attack Bob Geldof. Think - if you had earnt his millions as a musician why the fuck would you be bothered about Uganda. You ould retire and never need to read a newspaper, let alone dedicate one's life to helping to eradicate the poverty in Africa.
Before responding to this missive: consider what you are personally doing about the 1.6 million people in IDP camps in the North. And the 40, 000+ children that are 'Night Commuters' and can't even sleep in their own homes safely.
I love Uganda but I hate, God forgive me, the bigots who are profitting from other people's misfortunes. Bob Geldof offers a very educated 'olive branch' to those that listen. In the UK we are listening and give alot of our taxes to Uganda.
Can you listen too?
Time for change.
