What wrong did he/BOD do??
I sometimes wonder why we African always get so angry whenever a foreigner makes a political comment that is not in the favour of the Government. Bob Geldof just expressed his concerns about the politcal development in Uganda in his capacity as a poverty eradication co-ordinator and since we have accepted that measures have to be taken in order to eradicate poverty in our countries, then we should at least try to understand why those who are willing to help us to eradicate it make their comments based on the knowledge of why and how it comes that we are there where we are.

No one would agree that political instability, dictatorship and a repressive regime can bring about prosperity in a country and eradicate poverty. It's good to have a vision but once that vision fails to understand or interpreate all factors that are behind prosperity, then the vision becomes a mere vision for a few and not for all-inclusive.

Therefore, we should not get so wide-up of a one man's comment on Uganda's political future, because he is a foreigner, but we should rather try to understand why people are worried and why they express their concern. They do not wish us bad but they wish as good. So why do we get wide-up when one wishes us good????

If Bob's comments came from a prominent African leader, whould we have got wide-up so easily? Of course not, and that would never come up from an African leader either because African leaders have learnt throughout the years that the more you keep your mouth shut about other African leaders' wrong-doing, the more or longer you will stay in power. For instance, the whole World openly accussed President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe for his repressive and dictatorial regime, but did you hear a word from any African Leader who dared openly criticising Mugabe? No, why?

The answere to that is this: "If you leave me alone, I will also leave you alon e by not inteferring in you own problems."

There is alos a belief in most African leaders that Africa should be left alone to sort out her problems by herself. The only problem is that Afraca can not sort out her problems by herself.

so why is a white man's good and reasonable ideas and wishes is always seen, in African eyes, as an insult from a colonial master? Or is it that we Africans constantly try to blame the colonialists for the past while we fail at the same time to understand and learn form our failures from the past?

How will we ever be able to go on if we fail to learn from our mistakes? How will we be able to develop if we constantly blame and insult the West, or our so called developing partners, whenever they try to advise us on the way forward while we at the same time run to them for help whenever we need economical support? And economical support we will always need, at least for sometime to come.

And how can you call someone a develop ing partner while at the same time you have the audacity to publicly say that "Whenever my developing partners open his/her mouth, I go to sleep!".

If we have the audacity to insult our developing partners in that way, how would you thing that we will be able to let other people, read opposition, to compete on equal terms in a multiparty system of governancy?
