Govt response to donors predictable
A context is needed for understanding Western donors concern about political developments (read regression) in Uganda. Apart from providing over 50% of the national budget, the west has watched Uganda with keen interest since President Yoweri Museveni came to power.
Britains withholding of a small fraction of aid to Uganda has caused the government to unleash a barrage of anti-colonial rhetoric, making reference to the slave trade, unfair trade, past support for African dictators etc. We have heard language about non-interference, sovereignty, and freedom to determine our own destiny. Actually, this is standard rhetoric by liberators-cum-exploiters to criticism from developed countries or former colonial powers.
Now, when people with political connections that travel abroad for medical treatment or for the birth of a baby turn around and cynically declare love for the peasants, there is something smelly.
Also, in Africa when the government fails in the fair distribution of resources, its main concern becomes that of maintaining itself in power. So the government just bulldozes anyone who stands in the way.

The NRM cannot be serious when it now condemns Britain and other Colonial powers for it's problems. The NRM can only shed crocodile tears at this point. Nobody will listen to their duplicity.. The fact of the matter is NRM's time is up! Shouting about or rather blaming colonialism for NRM r woes is not going to cut it. The facts are you were puppets of the very Colonialist you are now blaming.
