Finally, a breath of some "other" air beside the Obote thing, but nonetheless stale air.
How sad it is that the Brigadier and others were so naive that they created the juggernaut that they now behold with dismay.
When you recall how that juggernaut meted "psychological torture" to Besigye and his followers, you are tempted to chuckle but you cannot given the yet to be known dimensions of how this row will play out.
One hopes that it is like the Tinyefuza fiasco that was much ado about nothing after all. If not, who knows what lies ahead for us mortals if yesterday's minions have become enemies.
I pity Tumukunde for he propped up the president and made sure he sent Besigye to the doldrums during the president�s re-election in 2001. Recently, however, he is said to have complained about President Museveni�s apparent ingratitude when he invoked the old Luganda proverb, �Gwowonya eggere��

NO WAY!
It's extremely sad to read about things like this in our beloved country Uganda. I've been such an ardent fan of His Excellency the President for the longest time and it saddens me to see all that's going on under his leadership in regard to the opposition. He inspired democracy in Uganda but at the rate things are going it seems like he may be the same person to bring it down. If the Brigadier sent in an application to reitre why not let him? If it had anything to do with the ghost soldiers case, then why not go through with the court process, bail or whatever, make a decision and let the man go. And why is it that Maj. Kakooza Mutale, a solider as well can freely speak about his support for the Movement and so many others but one soldier speaks differing views and cannot? support for the Movement is very slowly but surely diminishing. The current government should stand up for what is right, I wouldn't mind giving you my vote one more time but only if your so-called army leadership, Movement whatever changes the way opposition is dealt with...face it like a true democratic nation that we supposedly are!

Disagree with M7�s Government, then you become an enemy!!
If a black-man doesn�t agree with a white-man, the RASCISM issue arises.
When the DIE-HARD of M7 disagree with him, they become ENEMIES and they face HUMILIATION. Tumukunde has agreed that he is going through psychological torture, I believe he recalls all the days of struggle, with maximum support to M7.
The question lies, when will the judiciary system become functional & bring Uganda�s president to face justice? �A big-case of initiating war in great-lakes�.

Kezio, in the ideal world, when a serving army officer embarrasses the government, the riot act gets read out.
The offender is sat on asked to make amends. If he refuses to budge, the law book is thrown at him and he faces the music.
The Tumukunde business is very plain and very simple, but in Uganda very plain and very simple business is very hard to come by.
As we all know now, the man, Tumukunde, is no longer keen on working in institutions that are below par. He says he sacrificed all to end the dark days of misrule. Today he barely recognises the present from the past. He wants out. But his employers think otherwise; they say he must carry on regardless. The afande was effectively being held against his will. He is now loitering in detention.
His conscience is his downfall.

Tumukunde is a true democrat
Well, Tumukunde's arrest has been planned by Museveni for a long time. It is so unfortunate that our president cannot stand divergent views. Well, that is one of the signs of a dying regime. My only worry is that Museveni will leave a legacy that will haunt him. This is the man who stood by him during the difficult times. Is this how h

supposed to be treated? History will judge Museveni and he should know that his time is Just about. I salute Brig. Tumukunde for being strong in such harsh political environment and I want to assure him that he will come out of this as a hero.
