FDC gets office in Kasese town

Kasese MR Chapaa Karuhanga, envoy for the Forum for Demopcratic Change (FDC) has criticised President Yoweri Museveni’s programme of ‘bonna baggagawale’ (let all be rich), saying it cannot help Uganda out of poverty. “Bona bagagawale of Museveni cannot help you. The only thing I encourage you to do is to educate your children so that they become professionals,” Chapaa said. He was on July 24 addressing a public rally at Rwenzori Square in Kasese Town Council at the opening of an FDC office. “I hear he told you to grow mangoes and mushrooms but he cannot tell such to his kinsmen,” he said. Karuhanga accused Museveni of sacking most employees of URA to create jobs for his henchmen. “Museveni has made a lot of mistakes and we are not going to allow this to continue,” he said. Karuhanga promised to restructure Uganda’s economy to create jobs for unemployed youth should FDC get into power in 2006. Speaking at the same rally the party’s chief mobiliser Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu appealed to Museveni to create a conducive environment where Ugandans can make their choice without fear of any intimidation and harassment. “The problem with Museveni and company is that they don’t realise their mistakes,” he said. Muntu repeated the party’s stand against war in Uganda as a way to change the government. “As FDC we don’t want to fight. We are tired of wars in this country. If it was possible, I would take you to the top of Mount Rwenzori so that we repeat the same statement for Museveni and the whole world to hear,” Muntu said.
