Two officials of the Conservative Party (CP) in Britain have assured the Democratic Party of all possible support to ensure that the party takes power in the 2006 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking to DP members from Masaka, Rakai and Ssembabule districts who gathered at Bwala Social Centre to attend a DP workshop, Mr Duncan Macfahne, assured the party members of support in their struggle to take over power from President Yoweri Museveni.

The workshop, held on August 8, was attended by many DP officials from Kampala, including Mr Damian Lubega and Mr Muwanga Kivumbi.

Macfahne said, “We know that you have gone through all sorts of suffering. Many of you have been imprisoned and tortured because of your commitment to DP. I am happy to tell you that in our support programme, the DP and UYD are a priority. We believe in what you can do and we also know that this is the time for a change.”

Macfahne and Ms Kate Fuller, the Area Campaign Director for Norfolk and Suffolk in the UK, have been in Uganda since August 1 interacting with DP members.
