RRIA LATEST NEWS - Kampala, Uganda, Sept 08: The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) says it will boycott the upcoming general elections if the government of Uganda doesnt dismantle Internally Displaced Peoples camps in Northern Uganda. Speaking during a weekly press briefing at the party headquarters in Kampala, UPC constitutional Steering Committee Secretary General Peter Waluburi said, UPC is also calling for exclusion of the Army and Major Kakooza Mutales Kalangala Action Plan from the exercise saying these have always marred the electoral process. Walubili condemned Dr. James Rwanyarare for shaming the Party president Dr. Milton Obote by dragging him to court. Walubiri further said, UPCs President Dr Apollo Milton Obote is ready to defend the case filed against him by Rwanyarare. Walubiri, who also is the party lawyer, said on Wednesday Obote had not yet received the summons but he was equipped with all the legal requirement to respond to Rwanyarare. Walubiri said, We shall wait for the summons to be served and Obote will absolutely respond at an appropriate time.London, UK, Sept 07: The London-based Political Wing of the Lords Resistance Army has denied press claims that it called Ugandas local press and media last week. Speaking from London this morning, a member of the London LRA Political Wing, who also is a close-confidante of the LRA Military Leadership, denied Kony had instructed anyone in London to engage the Uganda dictatorship in any peace negotiations. Without disclosing names, the member said during some communication two weeks ago, Joseph Kony warned his confidante against fraudsters and imposters masquarading in the LRAs name to solicit material gains. The member a lso said, it is muted that some former LRA commandants (Banya and Kolo) who defected to Uganda army, are currently in London in the company of Ugandas state ministers Betty Aketch and Oryem Okello, seeking to meet certain members of LRAs political wing. The member further disclosed of a list of names of London based Acholi targeted for a meeting with ex-LRA commandants, Betty Aketch and Oryem Okello. Asking to remain anonymous, the member said the London - LRA political wing will not meet the delegation of the Uganda dictatorship.
Lira - Northern Uganda, Sept 07: The Uganda Peoples Congress this Saturday will hold a major political rally in Lira Town. Speaking from Lira last night, a member of Lira UPC district organising committee said, the President of UPC Dr. Apollo Milton Obote will address the rally. The source further said, top leadership of Uganda Peoples Congress and party leaders from districts neighbouring Lango, will be among the main speakers to address the rally. The rallys attendance is expected to draw thousands of Langi supporters and members of Uganda Peoples Congress.
