said yesterday.
The lawyers said the court's decision to re-instate Besigye on the charge sheet was in contempt of the Constitutional Court ruling that the GCM had no powers to try Besigye and 22 others. Sam Njuba, Besigye's lead counsel, said on phone, "We are private lawyers and we choose who to represent and where to represent him. we shall not appear there." The court had removed Besigye's name from the charge sheet in respect of the Constitutional Court ruling.
However, on Wednesday, when the 22 other persons charged with Besigye returned to court, including his brother, Joseph Musasizi Kifefe, the court again read out Besigye's name.
