The UPDF repulsed a group of suspected Allied Democratic Forces rebels in Bundibugyo district on Saturday.
The Alpine Brigade spokesman, Lt. Robert Kamara, said the fighting lasted a short time, but left two rebels dead and several wounded.
He did not mention whether the UPDF suffered casualties.
Kamara said the ADF were trying to set bases in Uganda after the UN peacekeeping troops and the DR Congo army recently attacked their camps in eastern DRC killing several rebels.
The UN-DR Congo joint attack on the rebel positions was to pave way for elections in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo mid this year.
