May 16, 2006: EU, Uganda Call for Regional Approach to LRA

The European Union Council on Monday issued a statement demanding that Uganda and neighboring countries arrest LRA leader Joseph Kony and four other LRA commanders who were indicted by the International Criminal Court last October. The statement emphasized the regional nature of the conflict and its disruption of peace and rebuilding efforts in the DR Congo, southern Sudan, and northern Uganda. Read

Also, Uganda yesterday renewed its calls to have a UN envoy appointed to coordinate a regional approach to ending the LRA rebellion. Uganda's outgoing Minister of State for International Affairs, Mr. Henry Okello Oryem, said that such a move would speed up efforts to end the war and defuse tensions caused by allegations from the UN and the DR Congo that Ugandan troops unilaterally entered the DR Congo on April 26th to pursue LRA rebels. One of my proffessor in Undergraduate logic course use to say that one can never solve a problem unless one knows the facts pertaining to the saied problem. Indeed the facts are that
Nobody, not even members of the International Community, let alone the Military dictatorship know anything about this "kony Phenominon"..One minute Museveni tells us that "kony" is in DRC the next minute we are told that "kony" is in Sudan.. One minute Museveni tells the people of Uganda and members of the International Commuinty that there are only 120 "rebels" out their ..the next minute we are told " kony" is now a region issue. The regime in Kampala has specialized in telling lies about "kony" to members of the International Commuinty and Ugandans.
That stated It becomes very very difficult to draw up a comphrehencive solution to the Crises in Northern /Eastern Uganda and The Great Lakes Region of Africa.
What needs to happen is that the whole "kony issue" needs to be approached with great Honesty and sober Mind . For starters Museveni and the NRM need to
tell Citizens of Uganda and memebers of the International Commuinty the truth!... Like how is it possible for "kony" an individual , to be in two places at the some time.?
How can "kony" speaks Kinyakole" were precisily does "kony" get his wreapons? if form Sudan, how came the UPDF has been incapable for 20 years to stop this weapons getting in from Sudan?
