Citizens:
We have long pointed out that the problem of cattle rustling between karamojong against the Iteso in Eastern Uganda can and will only be resolved by Ugandan leaders who have the wisdom to do so....and NOT by Dictator Yoweri Kaguta Museveni; a mere Gunman who believes in the power of the Gun and Gun violence.
Did you people listen? I guess not. You continue to buy into this notion or rather this believe that the NRM policy of Gun Violence, will resolve the Karamojong /Teso debacle which has been going on with greater intensity for 20 years. The Iteso, it may be argued , have paid heavily for believing that Museveni and the NRM will and can solve their
problem.
Museveni idea of trying to solve the teso/ Karamojong problem, is to try and recruit ignorant iteso into this thing called the Arrow Brigade..and deploy them to fight the "Karamojongs"..... While at the sometime the NRM deceives people that they are disarming the " Karamojong"!
For twenty years the NRM military dictatorship has been "disarming" the "Karamojong".... and the disarming exercise never ends!..and for Twenty years Guns held by the "Karamoja" are still plenty!!!
For twenty years the Iteso continue to suffer raids by the "the Karamojong"..teso cattle is stolen by the "karamojongs"...and get this .. stolen Iteso cattle ends up in Tutsi land in
Nyakatura!
Now either the Iteso are so ignorant ( to use a polite term) so much so that they cannot figure out what is happening or Museveni is simply to smart for them!
In the meantime some teso boys, calling themselves, teso arrow boys" are sitting there ..I hear to protect the Iteso from the "karamojong" question: how come this teso boys NEVER engage the "long nose karamojongs"? You see fellow citizens, Museveni and the NRM excels in what is popularly regarded as Machiavellian Political GAME THEORY 101!!

Residents in internally displaced people's camps in Teso sub-region are not happy with the slow pace at which the government is carrying out the disarmament of
the Karimojong warriors and resettlement of IDPs.
Local leaders in the region have revealed that security provided to the IDPs by the government is inadequate, which makes them vulnerable to attacks from Karimojong warriors.
The team leader of Actionaid in Katakwi district, Ms Justine Omeke, told journalists who toured IDP camps in Katakwi last week that Karimojong raids on the IDPs were persistent.
She said cattle rustling by the warriors was causing all kinds of suffering to a lot of people, including the deprivation of people of the right to live.
"It [rustling] has caused deaths, injuries, hunger, diseases, displacement and lawlessness," Omeke said.
She said even if not all people in the region have cattle to be raided by the warriors, the Karimojong also raid houses for property
and food, which results into deaths and injuries as people try to guard their property. She said productive labour in the area is getting depleted at a high rate as people shift to safer areas of the country.

The Teso-Karimojong conflict has been on for the last 56 years.
Omeke said the most affected areas include Kapelebyong, Acowa, Usuk, Ongongoya, Obalanga, Morangatiny, Magoro and Ngariam, all in the neighbourhood with Karamoja.
Omeke said as of 1956, there were over 700, 000 head of cattle and that the 1995 statistics indicated a mere 67,000.
