THE continued attacks on the UPDF by Karimojong are to avenge the recent
killing of 74 warriors in Kotido district by the army, area MPS have said.
The MPs said the UPDF's forceful disarmament of the Karimojong has triggered
hostility in the region. "The army's conduct of operations is creating more
enemies where there were none," Mr Imurin Lokodo the MP for Dodoth told the
press at Parliament on Monday.
He said some detainees are tortured. He said the warriors killed Major
Rwashande and 22 other soldiers because of the anger that has been building in
the communities for several months due the inhuman treatment the UPDF apply on
the Karimojong. This come just days after State Minister for Defence Ruth
Nankabirwa said the army had resolved to answer fire with fire since the
warriors are very violent.
