Fellow Netters,
Some time, I see Black intellectuals as people who prefer to stage the trial
of racism from the comfortable shores of history. Its easy. There is not stake
in the position they take other than asserting the purity of an intellectual
exercise.
When it comes to the daily horrors of racism meted out to fellow Blacks,
African intellectuals close their eyes at best. At worst, they become champions
of others.
A French organisation known as Children Rescue/Arche de Zoé collected money
from families in need of children. Those France-based families paid money to
Children Rescue/Arche de Zoé. Children Rescue/Arche organised itself as
humanitarian organisation, went to Africa, gathered children, got the press to
portray those children as Darfur orphans, swindled authorisations from Chadian
government and was on the way to airlift (boats are obsolete) those children
from Chad to France before the matter was revealed.
Since then, we published a petition to prevent the Stealing of Black children
from Africa.
Black intellectual went silent.
Signatures keep trickle in from France, Canada, USA, Britain mostly, from
Whites and Arabophones
Special thanks to Rev. Pinkney who not only signed but enlisted help.
Blacks, this is our fight. Let us take the front stage and let our friends
come next to help us. We must not lag behind, and wait to see horrors happening
to fellow Africans.
The news I have and the news I get are awful and bitter to taste. Let us
leave no stone unturned until the culprits, all of them and their acolytes, are
made to account for their wrong deed before the law and before world-wide,
black public opinion.
Even though the France-based families who paid money to Children Rescue/Arche
de Zoé see the matter in the press, they are adamant. They demonstrate against
Chadian Embassy in Paris protesting the arrest of children thieves. They argue:
if we dont "buy" those children, we cannot put it otherwise, they will surely
die of misery. Fine argument.
Nicolas SARKOZY, the French President is a Lawyer. As a President, he felt no
pang of conscience. He boarded a plane, went to Chad to rescue Crew Members and
Journalists among whom we suspect a "journalist" under cover.
We may complain about King Leopold. Brothers, Sisters, that was 19th Century.
TODAY, Sarkozy went to Chad to rescue people who ought to be left in the
hands of a local judiciary, to investigate each person involved and to reach a
decision at the end of a due process of Law.
The Belgian pilot who flew Patrice LUMUMBA into arrest said : "as a Belgian,
I obey only Belgians". History. As French, Sarkozy "protects" only French even
though they have been involved in a rather offensive undertaking. Tomorrow, if
we know that the "journalist" went to "steal" children she hopes to rescue has
something to account for, so what? Who do we protect?
Let us wake up. Sign now, call to sign this petition.
