The Italian Minister for Integration , Cécile Kashetu Kyenge , starts from
Monday 4 to Thursday, November 7, 2013 , a three-day visit to the DRC. This
visit, which is part of strengthening bilateral relations between Kinshasa
and Rome will begin as shown in a statement of the Italian Embassy in
Kinshasa delivered to Lighthouse by interviews at government level.
With several Congolese ministers from various sectors, Cécile Kashetu Kyenge
focus particularly on the ways and means to revive and deepen bilateral
relations between Italy and the DRC. It will be recalled on this occasion,
as Italy and the DRC maintain fruitful friendly relations since the
independence of the DRC. After the resumption of structural cooperation with
key partners in 2000 , the Italian Republic participates in the development
of the DRC, through technical and financial support it provides for years,
development NGOs , particularly in the agricultural and health , to name a
few.
It should be noted that economic cooperation between our two countries ,
received a boost with the first visit of an influential member of the
Italian government in 2007 , in Kinshasa , in the person of Mr. Massimo
D'Alema , Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The visit
had given at the time, the Italian statesman , to discuss with the Congolese
officials , among other issues , the warming of bilateral relations in the
interest of the Congolese and Italian peoples. In the wake of these
discussions, it was even considered the visit of a delegation of Italian
businessmen in Kinshasa and the Congolese entrepreneurs in Rome.
We therefore believe that the Italian Minister for Integration advantage of
his stay in the DRC, to warm these cases , especially when the Italian
Republic has initiated bold reforms to overcome the crisis, need
opportunities to increase trade with key partners in the Southern Hemisphere
. Given its Congolese origins and responsibilities in the Italian
government, Cécile Kyenge probably evoke in his talks with members of the
Congolese government , the problem of illegal immigration of current concern
especially the Italian Republic , and the European Union, following the
deaths of hundreds of illegal immigrants registered in the island of
Lampedusa.
Finally, Cécile Kyenge will visit the province of South Kivu, where she
plans to meet with the governor of the province , before comforting victims
interned at Panzi hospital sexual violence. With Dr. Denis Mukwege , it will
examine the possibility of providing assistance to the medical training. And
to complete his stay in the DRC , the Italian Minister for Integration will
hold talks with the governor of Katanga province and the provincial Minister
of Youth .
