Surely if BT were genuinely in the DC (i.e. they have a WDM capability in the
building), then they don’t need to buy tails from anyone.

When we last got a quote from BT, they insisted that they had to include the
cost of a brand new Ciena platform at both ends (despite both ends being major
BT exchanges).

Simon,
BT has to buy tails from OR outside of the WECLA region. There is no such
thing as on-net from that perspective.

Neil,

It's not that "some DC's are a problem", but rather (in my experience)
that
BTW does not offer any incentive for having one or both ends of a circuit
be
in a datacenter. There's no 'on-net' discount. Whereas, other carriers
treat
DC's as on-net, and there are no 'tail circuit' costs - just port costs.

Can BTW offer 10G waves between a Manchester DC and a London DC for less
than
20k/year? Several of the competition can...

Last time I asked BTW for a quote on optical services it was an order
of magnitude more expensive than the competition (more than 10x).

We recently put a wavelength in between Manchester and London. SSE
were the most competitive, followed by M247.

Preferably a wavelength-type service, MPLS would be a possibility too.

We've got a client looking for a pair of 10G circuits from

Any recommendations on who would be sensible to approach for these?

What sort of service are you looking for MPLS style pseudo wire?

IXReach can to this, I think Allegro can do this too (but it's not on
their site, inquire via phone), dare I say it but I think C4L can do
this too.

Or leased fibre service?

Virgin Media can do this, I have given up on shitty level 3, try Above
Net / Zayo also.

James.
