Indeed, I have a couple of customers who use VM for part of their branch/HQ comms. National Ethernet is provided on their MPLS network. Occasionally their handoff to customer equipment decides that the link has gone half-duplex all of a sudden, and so the OP's point would be correct at that point. However, a quick call to remind their NOC of the previous call you made the last time this happened, and they start to make sure their half-width Alcatel box in your comms rack has got the port settings fixed at 100/full/no-auto. ;) Marek Isalski
