BT only allow modems that comply with SIN 498[1]. Modems can be
submitted to BT Openreach by CPs for testing[2]. Theoretically you
could have the modem tested by someone else but I don't think anyone
else offers the service. It's a fairly high bar to reach and I don't
think any modems have passed first time.

BT Wholesale have a list of generic routers that have passed, ask your
account manager for it.
